The School of Evocation grants a Wizard the abilities «Evocation Savant» and «Sculpt Spells» at second level. The former halves the cost of scribing evocation spells into their spellbook from 50gp to 25gp per spell level, while the latter allows them to exclude allies from the harmful effects of their Evocation spells.

Having access to Bladesong can be a huge boon to other spell-sword setups, like the Hexblade Warlock or even the Paladin, and since it doesn’t rely on Intelligence, you could take the two-level dip to acquire Bladesong without needing to invest in that stat at all.

Bladesong Healing Charges are generated when making weapon attacks, while Bladesong Damage Charges are generated whenever the Wizard casts a spell. By using Bladesong: Climax, the Wizard can spend a bonus action and some movement to leap to a location and cause a burst of damage and healing in a 3m/10ft radius. The damage and healing are determined by the number of charges accumulated, with the damage dealt to all enemies in the radius and the healing applied to all allies in the radius.

Navigating the world of Morrowind is far from easy, with players having to follow directions to reach certain areas instead of just relying on a map marker. It’s also important to decide a character’s predominant skills early on so that they can level up efficiently

Key to a player’s heavy-hitting arsenal is substantial defense, which Heavy Armour almost always provides them. Compared to Light Armour and Medium Armour, which facilitate faster movement and stealth, Heavy Armour foregoes many benefits in exchange for pure defensive capabilities. For players looking for Heavy Armour to outfit their tanks and other heavy hitters, Baldur’s Gate 3 provides some truly remarkable opti

Stronger versions of the Dark Justiciar Half-Plate and Gauntlets can be acquired by killing the Nightsong, along with the Dark Justiciar Boots. The improved Half-Plate also reduces incoming damage by 2 while the wearer is affected by Shield of Faith and deals 1d4 necrotic damage to the attacker. The Improved Gauntlets allow the wearer to cast Beckoning Darkness as a bonus action, which curses the target to take 2d8 necrotic damage whenever they start their turn in a lightly or heavily obscured area. Finally, the Dark Justiciar Boots grant +1 to dexterity saving throws and allow the wearer to use Shadow Teleportation once per short rest. This lets them teleport to an unoccupied space that is obscured.

At level 6, Wild Magic Sorcerers can «Bend Luck.» When a creature they can see makes a saving throw, attack roll, or ability check, the Wild Magic Sorcerer can spend 2 Sorcery Points to roll 1d4 and apply the result as a bonus or penalty to that roll. This allows the Wild Magic Sorcerer to, as the name suggests, bend luck in their fa

For what it’s worth, the story of Skyrim is pretty generic, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. After all, just like D&D , it’s the journey that matters the most. Given the sheer number of interesting locales and unique quests that players will find in the game, it’s easy to see why players can be positively enraptured for hours on

Regarded as one of several crown jewels in BioWare’s catalog, the Knights of the Old Republic games are essentially D&D campaigns set within the Star Wars universe. The rules and mechanics aren’t a direct mirror of D&D , but they’re more than familiar and comfortable for anyone who has played the latter. The saga of Darth Revan provides a gripping narrative for both games, and the characters are incredibly well-writ

They also get «Command» and «Sleep» as domain spells, allowing them to plant a command in a target’s mind or lull targets to sleep.

There are a total of three BG3 subclasses Sorcerer players can try out, each of which focuses on different aspects of the class, and offers a selection of unique skills, proficiencies, and other features. As you level up in one of these BG3 Sorcerer subclasses, you will gain more abilities that are unique to your subclass choice.

At sixth level, Giant Barbarians gain Elemental Cleaver. This allows them to add acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder damage to their weapon while raging, and also adds the Thrown property to their weapon when used. Additionally, weapons under the effect of Elemental Cleaver will be returned to your hand immediately after being thrown, allowing for greater flexibility in throwing weapon builds. The elemental damage behaves like a damage rider when throwing the weapon, meaning the elemental damage is boosted independently by things like the Rage buff, Tavern Brawler, or the Ring of Flinging. This allows you to achieve much higher damage than expected with weapons enhanced using Elemental Cleaver.

Updated on the 25th of April, 2024, by Thomas Hawkins: With the release of Baldur’s Gate 3’s long-awaited Patch 8, every class has gained a new subclass. In the case of the Barbarian class, they may now choose the Path of Giants subclass, allowing them to channel the elemental strength of giants to grow in size and throw their enemies around in various ways. They may also empower their weapons with elemental damage and the thrown property, allowing them to easily hurl greatswords and other two-handed weapons. This guide has been updated to discuss the new subclass, multiclassing options that pair well with it, and equipment that works particularly well with this subclass.

In Baldur’s Gate 3 beginner guide Gate 3 , some classes don’t have many choices to make while leveling thanks to the lack of spells, like the Rogue or Monk. Warlocks are not like other spellcasters in BG3 because they have limited spell slots that refresh every short rest instead of long one, and are mostly reliant on Cantrips which can be empowered with Eldritch Invocations.

The Wildheart Subclass, likely a reimagining of the Totem Warrior from D&D 5e Tabletop, chooses a Bestial Heart at level three. Each Bestial Heart offers different bonus effects while the Barbarian is raging, along with access to a special action while raging, as the table below shows:

Each of Baldur’s Gate 3 ‘s classes offers different abilities and utility to a character in combat, dialog, and exploration. Each class has something different to offer the player and the party, and the Barbarian is no different in that regard.

Metamagic lets Warlocks use Quickened Spell and Twinned Spell to great effect, adding additional Eldritch Blast casts or damage, and opening up the potential for a Warlock to double-cast spells like Haste.

A big part of what made D&D such a runaway success was the fact that players could craft wondrous stories that would stick with them long after their campaigns were over and done with. In this regard, Planescape: Torment is perfect for fans of these rich and beautiful ta

Tiny Tina’s Wonderland feels like being guided through a D&D story by an unhinged DM who isn’t afraid to throw some curveballs players’ way. The weapon selections are diverse, and all fantasy-themed spins on popular guns. The fights range from popping kobold heads with sniper rifles to downing literal dragons with assault rifles and special abilit

Warlocks get to choose two skills from a list of seven, but depending on which background you choose, some may not be available. This is because those skills are already given proficiency by the Background.

The Great Old One Warlock is one of the best Warlock builds because of its access to powerful, battle-turning control spells that complement the class spell list. By binding oneself to a pact with the Great Old One, Warlocks gain the Mortal Reminder passive, which makes enemies Frightened on crits.

Duellist’s Prerogative (1d8+8 Piercing +2 Piercing +1d4 Necrotic, Rapier, Very Rare): This Longsword is perhaps one of the best weapons for a Bard specifically for its damage output potential. Its Elegant Duellist effect now allows Crits at 19 on top of a bonus Reaction, which can be used in tandem with its Withering Cut to inflict (Proficiency Bonus) Necrotic Damage on a melee weapon attack. Using this with a College of Swords Dual Wielder Bard can catapult the character into main DPS territory.

Additionally, both classes rely on Charisma, and can both take advantage of a player’s high CHA stat without forcing them to invest in others. Three levels in Sorcerer lets players choose a Sorcerer subclass.

At Level 1, The Great Old One gives Warlocks access to Tasha’s Hideous Laughter or Dissonant Whispers , and then at Level 3, they can use Detect Thoughts and Phantasmal Force. Playing as a Great Old One Warlock means committing nearly entirely to being a spellcaster, so only engage in combat from a distance.

At level one, they also have the additional spell options «Faerie Fire» and «Sleep,» allowing them to outline targets to grant advantage or just put their enemies to sleep. At level three, they can also choose «Phantasmal Force» and «Calm Emotions,» letting them deal repeating psychic damage that will shift damage type to match the last attack that hit the target and allow them to immunize themselves and their allies from being charmed or frightened. Level five adds the options of «Plant Growth» and «Blink,» letting them create difficult terrain and flicker out of reality after their turn to evade attacks (sometimes Fey Magic is fickle.)

If you’re multiclassing with Barbarian, we recommend Leather Armour +2 for the early-game and then either the Bhaalist Armour or Elegant Studded Leather in the late-game. If you’re looking for heavy armor, you should consider grabbing the Adamantine Splint Armour during Act 1, Dwarven Splintmail from Moonrise Towers during Act 2, or the Flawed Helldusk Armour from Damon in Act 2. Another decent option is the Rippling Force Mail. You can swap in the Reaper’s Embrace or Armour of Persistence later, before picking up the Helldusk Armour as your final set.

The Circle of the Land Druid specializes in spellcasting first and foremost, gaining the ability to recover their spell slots using the «Natural Recovery» ability once per long rest. This makes them excellent utility casters and allows them to utilize their magic more freely and frequently than the other Druid subclasses.

Since the Spore Druid can perform quite a bit of necromancy already, it’s well worth tracking down the book «Necromancy of Thay» during Act 1 to unlock its secrets. Finishing the book will take until Act 3, but results in a ton of extra undead minions in combat.

Level seven offers «Dominate Beast» and «Evard’s Black Tentacles,» allowing them to turn animal enemies to their side and brutally restrain their foes with conjured tendrils. At Level nine, they can get «Dominate Person» and «Telekinesis,» letting them manipulate humanoids and throw people and objects around freely.

Goolocks also get the spell options «Dissonant Whispers» and «Tasha’s Hideous Laughter» at level 1. The former allows them to inflict psychic damage and frighten a foe, while the latter can leave a foe helplessly laughing on the ground for up to ten rounds. They gain the spells «Detect Thoughts» and «Phantasmal Force» at level three, allowing them to read minds without relying on the Mindflayer Tadpole and inflict psychic damage whose damage type changes to match the last attack that hit the target and occurs every turn for ten turns. At level five, they can get «Bestow Curse» and «Slow,» which offer them a huge range of debuff options for dealing with strong foes.

Putting all of this together, players will be able to create huge icy surfaces using spells that deal cold damage, with even the Ray of Frost Cantrip creating a decent amount of ice thanks to the Snowburst Ring, and inflicting the chilled and frost-encrusted conditions in the process. These two conditions both apply vulnerability to cold damage and can be used to freeze foes solid too.

The Circle of Spores Druid gains a «Halo of Spores» at level two. This allows them to deal necrotic damage (1d4) to a target within 6m as a reaction each turn. They also gain «Symbiotic Entity» at level two, letting them spend a Wildshape charge as an action to gain 4 temporary HP per Druid level. «Symbiotic Entity» also allows them to deal an extra 1d6 necrotic damage while those temporary hit points remain and doubles the damage dealt by «Halo of Spores.» They also gain the «Bone Chill» Cantrip as an extra way to deal necrotic damage while nullifying a foe’s ability to heal themselves.

The Illusion school is sadly lacking when compared to many of the other Wizard Subclasses in the game, but does have a ton of utility for stealth. As such, taking Rogue levels can be very beneficial when playing an Illusionist. If going down this path, players could use equipment that lowers the target number for a critical hit (the Covert Cowl , for example) to complement their stealthy approach to exploration and combat.

When it comes to multiclassing, Transmutation Wizards are uniquely suited to acting as non-combat support by crafting potions, using Rogue or Bard levels to gain medicine expertise and more efficiently double all potion production. They can also make use of levels in Fighter or Cleric for access to medium and heavy armor, much like the other Wizard subclasses.

The Champion subclass is simple and effective, providing straightforward bonuses that can benefit many other classes. This is especially true of Rogues , who benefit immensely from the Improved Critical Hit effect. When stacked with equipment that further lowers the target number for critical hits (which stack in baldur’s gate 3 character Builds Gate 3), it becomes possible to create a critical hit monster very easily.

For ranged combat, players should pick up the Spellthief bow from Arron at the Druid Grove, allowing them to restore a first level spell slot the first time they land a critical hit each short rest. This can be helpful during the early-game where spell slots are few. The Joltshooter longbow can also be found in Act 1, as a reward for rescuing Councilor Florrick at Waukeen’s Rest, and allows the Ranger to build up lightning charges and dish out extra damage with their attacks.

The hype for Cyberpunk 2077 was through the roof before its launch, with the marketing push being truly massive. Attaching the name of Keanu Reeves and showing off some truly amazing gameplay led everyone to think that this game would be a true next-gen title that would push the gaming industry to a whole new level. So, it was rather disappointing that a mix of cut content and unfinished development led to the legacy of Cyberpunk 2077 being tarnished for g

Much like the Battle Master, the Eldritch Knight benefits greatly from the Helldusk Armour, Boots, and Helmet. They can also make great use of the Helldusk Gloves, which add fire damage to your weapon attacks and a +1 bonus to spell attack rolls and spell save DC. They also grant +1 to Strength saving throws and allow you to cast Rays of Fire once per short rest, adding a useful ranged attack to your kit. These gloves can be acquired by killing Haarlep in the House of Hope. The Reaper’s Embrace Armour looted from Ketheric at the end of Act 2 is a great alternative to the Helldusk Armor, offering incredible defensive utility without needing to fight Raphael for it. You could also use the Armour of Perseverance, which can be purchased from Dammon the Blacksmith if he survives all the way to Act Baldur’s Gate 3 Updates.

Level seven offers «Dominate Beast» and «Evard’s Black Tentacles,» allowing them to turn animal enemies to their side and brutally restrain their foes with conjured tendrils.
At level six, Conjuration Wizards learn «Benign Transposition: Teleport,» allowing them to teleport to any unoccupied space within 9m or swap positions with an ally in that range. This can be good for getting the Wizard out of dangerous situations and putting a tankier ally in range of dangerous foes. Level 10 has Conjuration Wizards learn «Focused Conjuration.» This prevents the Wizard’s Concentration from being broken when concentrating on Conjuration Spells, which would be fantastic for preventing a lucky archer from canceling their summons if summons required concentration the way they do in the tabletop game. As this isn’t the case for most summons in the game, this tends to be extremely niche.

Level 6 gives you access to «Accursed Spectre» , which allows you to raise an allied spectre from a slain enemy who was under the effects of Hexblade’s Curse. Depending on the size of the enemy, you’ll get a Feeble Spectre, Mundane Spectre, or Primordial Spectre. Larger Spectres have a few extra skills, and all Spectres act as useful allies in combat who can teleport to cursed targets.

Collect The Protecty Sparkswall clothing from Grymforge in Act 1 for a bonus to Spell Save DCs and a boost to AC while you have lightning charges, which pairs well with The Spellsparkler Staff. If taking fighter or cleric levels, or playing as a race with inherent shield proficiency, players should also collect The Real Sparky Sparkswall (shield) at Grymforge for even more AC (this unfortunately cannot stack with the Bracers of Defense, but the synergy with lightning charges makes it worthwhile regardless.) Shield users can also get the Shield of Devotion from Talli in Act 2, gaining an extra level 1 spell slot and the ability to cast Aid once per long rest. In Act 3, players can swap this for the Shield of the Undevout or Viconia’s Walking Fortress instead.

While not always the strongest option, this can be used to activate spells like Blade Ward without giving up an attack. It can even be used to cast True Strike without giving up an attack, though this won’t make it useful mid-combat.

«Dread Ambusher: Hide» simply allows them to hide as a bonus action. «Umbral Shroud» allows them to become invisible as an action as long as they are obscured. «Superior Darkvision» allows the Gloom Stalker to see up to 24m in darkness without issue. They also automatically learn «Disguise Self» as a first level spell.

The Ring of Mental Inhibition is a great addition to your gear as a Swarmkeeper too. It’ll apply mental fatigue on your enemy whenever they fail a saving throw, which makes them worse at Wisdom, Intelligence, and Charisma saving throws until they fail one. Failing deals psychic damage to them and removes all stacks of mental fatigue. By pairing this with the Braindrain Gloves, the Strange Conduit Ring, and either the Sword of Screams or Voss’ Silver Sword, you can dish out a decent amount of damage. If you’re playing as a Githyanki, you can also make use of the Psionic Ward Armour and Boots of Psionic Movement to further empower this setup. The main downside to this is that there aren’t many ways for Rangers to force Wisdom, Intelligence, or Charisma saving throws, so you’ll need to rely on other members of your party to detonate the mental fatigue stacks.

This pairs nicely with the Gloves of Hellrider’s Pride , which Zevlor will hand over when players complete the quest «Investigate Kahga.» These gloves will apply Blade Ward to anyone the wearer heals, except for themselves. Similarly, the Boots Of Aid And Comfort , sold in the Goblin Camp by Grat the Trader, make for a great early-game boost. These boots will give three Temporary Hit Points to anyone the wearer heals.

The Fighter in Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the simplest classes to understand when looking at it. The Fighter, as their name suggests, fights. More specifically, the Fighter class is an expert in using weapons and armor of all kinds and can thus adapt easily to different combat situations. The Fighter subclasses each offer more ways for the Fighter to excel on the battlefield, be it through specialized combat maneuvers, the addition of magic to their arsenal, or simply increasing their survivability and critical hit potential.

The War Domain is granted by gods of warfare, and begins with the ability «War Priest.» The Cleric can spend «War Priest» charges to make an additional attack each turn, making the War Domain the best for a weapon-focused cleric build. At level one, the Cleric has three «War Priest» charges. To further aid in direct combat, the War Domain also grants proficiency in heavy armor and martial weapons.

If you’re aiming for a ranged Ranger build, you’ll want to pick up some of the powerful ranged weapons the game has to offer. Early on, your best longbow options are the Spellthief, Joltshooter, or Titanstring Bow (the latter is only useful if you have high strength too, but it can deal incredible damage if you do.) Your best early shortbow options are the Hunting Shortbow, Bow of the Banshee, or Darkfire Shortbow.

While the game’s combat was action-oriented, it also allowed players to mess around with various stats and complexities to enhance their combat efficiency even more. Dragon Age: Inquisition may not be the best RPG that fans can check out, but it’s a pretty good one that’s full to the brim with a memorable storyline, fun characters, and some great set pieces where BioWare is flexing its bud

At level 11, Wild Magic Sorcerers get the feature «Controlled Chaos,» giving foes near the sorcerer a chance to trigger a Wild Magic Surge when casting spells. This extends the chaos they cause and can potentially cause serious harm to enemy spellcasters, though it also has a decent chance of helping them out

The next few pieces of Luminous gear are found in Act 2. Collect the Luminous Gloves from a chest in the Ruined Battlefield (Coordinates: X: -52, Y: 11) to add more Radiant Orb stacks whenever the wearer does Radiant Damage, then track down the Coruscation Ring in the Basement of the Last Light Inn. This Ring will apply Radiating Orbs whenever the wearer hits an illuminated target with a spell. Since fire spells illuminate the area around them as they strike and Radiating Orbs will illuminate a target while they remain, this Ring can help the effect to snowball.

Though many classes have a lot of leveling choices, as a melee class, this BG3 Rogue build doesn’t rely on spells and, as a result, a lot of levels don’t give you anything to choose from. Though Rogues get plenty of new abilities through their subclass and class features, these are automatically unlocked for your character.

At level 11, all Draconic Bloodline Sorcerers gain «Fly.» This allows them to fly around freely, extending the distance they can move each round, letting them fly up to high places, and allowing them to descend from high places without taking dam

Finally, ninth level Death Domain Clerics gain Cloudkill and Contagion as Domain Spells. Taken all together, Death Domain Clerics excel in weakening enemies with status effects before finishing them off at close quarters. Once the enemy is dead, they can use Animate Dead to turn their fallen foes into more problems for their next opponent. Their ability to ignore resistance to Necrotic damage allows them to use their main damage type against enemies that would otherwise resist it, giving them an edge compared to other users of necrotic damage.

Each of Baldur’s Gate 3 classes guide Gate 3 ‘s nine classes offers a different gameplay experience, providing the character different combat and exploration capabilities. The Ranger class specializes in navigating the wild, utilizing a mix of martial combat bonuses and divine magic similar to the magic Druids use . Rangers choose a favored enemy and terrain, gaining bonuses based on their choices and allowing them to further customize their build.
