All Baldur’s Gate 3 Barbarian Subclasses, Ranked

There are a total of three BG3 subclasses Sorcerer players can try out, each of which focuses on different aspects of the class, and offers a selection of unique skills, proficiencies, and other features. As you level up in one of these BG3 Sorcerer subclasses, you will gain more abilities that are unique to your subclass choice.

At sixth level, Giant Barbarians gain Elemental Cleaver. This allows them to add acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder damage to their weapon while raging, and also adds the Thrown property to their weapon when used. Additionally, weapons under the effect of Elemental Cleaver will be returned to your hand immediately after being thrown, allowing for greater flexibility in throwing weapon builds. The elemental damage behaves like a damage rider when throwing the weapon, meaning the elemental damage is boosted independently by things like the Rage buff, Tavern Brawler, or the Ring of Flinging. This allows you to achieve much higher damage than expected with weapons enhanced using Elemental Cleaver.

Updated on the 25th of April, 2024, by Thomas Hawkins: With the release of Baldur’s Gate 3’s long-awaited Patch 8, every class has gained a new subclass. In the case of the Barbarian class, they may now choose the Path of Giants subclass, allowing them to channel the elemental strength of giants to grow in size and throw their enemies around in various ways. They may also empower their weapons with elemental damage and the thrown property, allowing them to easily hurl greatswords and other two-handed weapons. This guide has been updated to discuss the new subclass, multiclassing options that pair well with it, and equipment that works particularly well with this subclass.

In Baldur’s Gate 3 beginner guide Gate 3 , some classes don’t have many choices to make while leveling thanks to the lack of spells, like the Rogue or Monk. Warlocks are not like other spellcasters in BG3 because they have limited spell slots that refresh every short rest instead of long one, and are mostly reliant on Cantrips which can be empowered with Eldritch Invocations.

The Wildheart Subclass, likely a reimagining of the Totem Warrior from D&D 5e Tabletop, chooses a Bestial Heart at level three. Each Bestial Heart offers different bonus effects while the Barbarian is raging, along with access to a special action while raging, as the table below shows:

Each of Baldur’s Gate 3 ‘s classes offers different abilities and utility to a character in combat, dialog, and exploration. Each class has something different to offer the player and the party, and the Barbarian is no different in that regard.

Metamagic lets Warlocks use Quickened Spell and Twinned Spell to great effect, adding additional Eldritch Blast casts or damage, and opening up the potential for a Warlock to double-cast spells like Haste.

A big part of what made D&D such a runaway success was the fact that players could craft wondrous stories that would stick with them long after their campaigns were over and done with. In this regard, Planescape: Torment is perfect for fans of these rich and beautiful ta

Tiny Tina’s Wonderland feels like being guided through a D&D story by an unhinged DM who isn’t afraid to throw some curveballs players’ way. The weapon selections are diverse, and all fantasy-themed spins on popular guns. The fights range from popping kobold heads with sniper rifles to downing literal dragons with assault rifles and special abilit

Warlocks get to choose two skills from a list of seven, but depending on which background you choose, some may not be available. This is because those skills are already given proficiency by the Background.

The Great Old One Warlock is one of the best Warlock builds because of its access to powerful, battle-turning control spells that complement the class spell list. By binding oneself to a pact with the Great Old One, Warlocks gain the Mortal Reminder passive, which makes enemies Frightened on crits.

Duellist’s Prerogative (1d8+8 Piercing +2 Piercing +1d4 Necrotic, Rapier, Very Rare): This Longsword is perhaps one of the best weapons for a Bard specifically for its damage output potential. Its Elegant Duellist effect now allows Crits at 19 on top of a bonus Reaction, which can be used in tandem with its Withering Cut to inflict (Proficiency Bonus) Necrotic Damage on a melee weapon attack. Using this with a College of Swords Dual Wielder Bard can catapult the character into main DPS territory.

Additionally, both classes rely on Charisma, and can both take advantage of a player’s high CHA stat without forcing them to invest in others. Three levels in Sorcerer lets players choose a Sorcerer subclass.

At Level 1, The Great Old One gives Warlocks access to Tasha’s Hideous Laughter or Dissonant Whispers , and then at Level 3, they can use Detect Thoughts and Phantasmal Force. Playing as a Great Old One Warlock means committing nearly entirely to being a spellcaster, so only engage in combat from a distance.
