Baldur’s Gate 3: All Sorcerer Subclasses, Explained
For example, players could focus on lightning damage, picking up the Spellsparkler staff from Waukeen’s Rest (by rescuing Counsellor Florrick), the Jolty Vest from Brem in the Zhentarim Hideout, and the Watersparkers from the chest behind Minthara at the Goblin Camp. Add the Blast Pendant, worn by one of the Petrified Drow near the Selunite Outpost, and the Sparkswall Ring from the Mage Tower Basement in the Underdark. Buy the Lifebringer from Blurg in the Underdark Colony to complete the ensemble. After reaching Grymforge in Act 1, players should replace the Jolty Vest with the Protecty Sparkswall for better spell save DCs and pick up The Real Sparky Sparkswall shield, also found in Grymforge.
When not in melee combat Taunting enemies, Circle of the Moon Druids can rely on their other spellcasting skills . For the most part, though, a Circle of the Moon Druid thrives taking on enemies face-to-face rather than in ranged combat. Abilities like Thorn Whip, Entangle, and Shillelagh keep it going close-quarters when out of Wild Shape form.
Wyll : A Fiend Warlock, Wyll’s spell list is somewhat limited compared to Gale, being a Warlock comes with its own benefits. Play Wyll as a hybrid of both ranged damage and ranged control, inflicting CC on enemies as often as you attack them
The Ranger multiclass option for Druids is a bit more of a memey build, but a relatively effective one nonetheless. By dipping three levels into the Ranger class as a Druid, a character will be able to select a Ranger subclass.
At level two, the School of Transmutation offers «Transmutation Savant» and «Experimental Alchemy.» The former halves the cost of scribing Transmutation spells , while the latter allows the creation of twice as many alchemical solutions when performing alchemy (if the Wizard succeeds a DC15 Medicine Check each time.) Players who enjoy brewing their own potions should definitely consider this School.
During Act 1, players should seek out Omeluum at the Myconoid Colony to acquire the Pearl of Power, allowing them to restore a level Baldur’s Gate 3 Guide or lower spell slot once per long rest. (Omeluum will sell the amulet once players help them to investigate the parasite.)
To avoid being hindered by your own icy terrain, it’s important to pick up the Hoarfrost Boots from the Inquisitor’s Chamber at the Githyanki Creche too, taking the opportunity to buy Winter’s Clutches from Lady Esther at the Rosymorne Monastery Trail too (These can also be acquired by completing the quest «Avenge Glut’s Circle» in the Underdark, as long as players side with Glut.)
At level six, Conjuration Wizards learn «Benign Transposition: Teleport,» allowing them to teleport to any unoccupied space within 9m or swap positions with an ally in that range. This can be good for getting the Wizard out of dangerous situations and putting a tankier ally in range of dangerous foes. Level 10 has Conjuration Wizards learn «Focused Conjuration.» This prevents the Wizard’s Concentration from being broken when concentrating on Conjuration Spells, which would be fantastic for preventing a lucky archer from canceling their summons if summons required concentration the way they do in the tabletop game. As this isn’t the case for most summons in the game, this tends to be extremely niche.
One of the best features of the Wizard class is its ability to learn abilities from scrolls, but this ability becomes more powerful when paired with another Prepared Spellcaster class, like the Cleric. This multiclass Wizard build is not one that focuses on the Wizard, as only one level is needed to learn from scrolls. Instead, it opts for 11 levels in Cleric, leaving just one in Wizard.
The Circle of Stars Druid is ideally positioned to use the Luminous Set. This set of equipment revolves around applying the radiating orb condition to enemies, which lowers all of their attack rolls by the number of turns remaining on the condition, and also emits bright light. By wearing the Callous Glow Ring and Coruscation Ring, the Druid can easily apply radiating orbs and buff their radiant damage against targets who are illuminated. Pick up the Hellrider’s Pride Gauntlets to apply Blade Ward to allies whenever you heal them, and replace them with the Gloves of Belligerant Skies once you can to stack Reverberation, and regularly knock enemies prone just by using your Luminous Arrow and Guiding Bolt.
For the Battle Master build, which is a close-range melee build, these two abilities let the character persist through death and absolutely pile damage onto opponents with critical hits – just be sure to pick up abilities and gear that reduces the Critical Hit threshold.
The Circle of Spores Druid has a tremendous amount of synergy with the Necromancy School available to Wizards, and taking six levels of Wizard will allow them to create a much greater range of undead minions to aid them in battle. This has the added benefit of granting them access to the entire Wizard spell list thanks to both classes being full casters, though a character will need to invest in intelligence to make full use of the Wizard spells. The Circle of Spores also synergizes well with the Monk, allowing players to brawl in melee and improve their AC using their Wisdom, which will already be pretty high since it’s the Druid’s spellcasting stat. Fighter and Ranger are both excellent multiclass choices too, offering Extra Attack at level 5 to dish out more Necrotic Damage while using Symbiotic Entity. Ranger synergizes slightly better due to also providing additional spell slots. (Rangers are half-casters so half of the Ranger Level, rounded down, is added to the effective caster level when multiclassing.)
