In the case that you don’t go with a Duergar and instead choose the Half Elf for the Mask of the Wild passive, choose the Charlatan background, which grants bonuses to Deception and Sleight of Hand, or the Guild Artisan background, which grants proficiency to Insight and Persuasion.

These Battle Maneuvers, paired with the Fighter’s base Action Surge and Second Wind actions, make them a serious force in melee combat – as long as they actually hit the enemy, that is. They are great at controlling enemy locations with certain Battle Maneuvers, rooting them in place or pushing them away, and can also be a source of minor buffs for the party and debuffs for enemies.

The max level in Baldur’s Gate 3 is Level 12, and most of the time, each level you gain will grant something new for your Druid build. On character creation you gain the basics for the Druid class, then steadily gain Feat Choices, new spells and abilities, subclass features, and increase your Proficiency Bonus.

The Half-Orc race comes with a few notable racial abilities that help the best BG3 Fighter build become even more powerful and resilient. The race comes with Darkvision, and proficiency in Intimidation, but its real draw for Fighters comes from the Savage Attacks and Relentless Endurance passive features.

The Drow are one of the most versatile , role-filling Races in Baldur’s Gate 3 for a few important reasons. Their enhanced Darkvision is not to be sneered at, especially when one considers that it helps spells hit their targets in the dark. Plus, Drow have Advantage on Perception through Keen Senses.

There are three subclasses Druid players can try out in Baldur’s Gate 3 : Circle of the Land, Circle of the Moon, and the Circle of Spores. While Circle of the Land focuses on spellcasting and Circle of Spores is a multi-faceted support and damage role, Circle of the Moon improves on the Druid’s ability to use Wild Shape.

However, depending on how you like to play your Druid, the Outlander background might feel more fitting. This background grants proficiency in Athletics and Survival instead of Animal Handling and Survival, and Athletics can be very useful in combat.

A good alternative to the Half-Orc is the Githyanki, which gain Githyanki Psyonics to further enhance their ability to control the battlefield (and jump around from enemy to enemy as if on a trampoline).

The Half-Orc race is one of the best races in Baldur’s Gate 3 classes guide Gate 3 for Druids who spend most of their time in melee combat. The racial passives of the Half-Orc race still work when in Wild Shape form, letting a Druid tear through enemies with stronger Critical Hits and a resilience to Death unique to Half-Orcs.

The most broken way to play a Thief Rogue is to keep them separate from the rest of the party before combat, then sneak to a vantage point, and fire off a Sneak Attack for free before entering the fray. Oftentimes, this one-shots weak to medium-strength enemies.

This section covers the best equipment for Battle Master Fighters in BG3 across all three Acts. Some pieces from early Acts may still be powerful in later ones, though, and will remain equipped through several Acts.

Updated on April 15th, 2025, by Thomas Hawkins: With the release of Patch 8, players now have access to a new subclass for every class in the game. In the case of the Warlock, this is the Hexblade, whose pact with sentient magical weapons forged from shadow makes them masters of melee magic. This new subclass opens up all kinds of new playstyles for the Warlock, including some secret synergies with the Shadow Sorcerer, so this guide has been updated accordingly.

Rogues are masters of Stealth and are easily able to slink in and out of dangerous situations while masterfully gaining Advantage whenever possible. They are very good at Lockpicking and Disarming traps, and can dual-wield with ease, making them a good addition to a team that needs a dextrous melee member to do some dirty work.

Finally, level 10 Hexblade Warlocks gain «Armour of Hexes,» which lets them spend a reaction when attacked for a 50% chance of entirely negating that attack. This can be a lifesaver against powerful foes, though it’s inherently luck-driven.

The max level in Baldur’s Gate 3 is Level 12, and though not every class will be offered a choice to make at every level, classes with access to spells tend to have something to do at every level up. As a hybrid spellcaster and melee class, this BG3 Druid build has plenty of choices to make on the way to max level.

Overall, the Hexblade Warlock is easily the best option for a Warlock focusing on melee combat, especially when paired with the Pact of the Blade to gain extra attacks at level 5. Their ability to utilise several useful combat spells, like Wrathful Smite, Shield, and Elemental Weapon, along with their ability to wear medium armour and use shields, makes them uniquely suited to fighting on the front lines. Their lower health pool when compared to most melee classes is offset by their Spectres, who can help to draw some attention off them, and their access to defensive spells like Blink and the aforementioned shield.

At level eight, the Cleric learns «Divine Strike: Tempest» to imbue an attack with thunder damage. Level nine finishes off their Domain Spell list with «Insect Plague» and «Destructive Wave.» This gives them the ability to create a damaging cloud of stinging insects to hamper foes and launch a devastating wave of thunder and radiant damage that can knock foes prone.

The Fighter’s focus on Strength and Constitution gives them a big boost to Ability Checks that rely on those stats. As such, gaining proficiency with Athletics and Intimidation via the Soldier background is the best route to go to further improve two skills that the class already exemplifies.

Since the Eldritch Knight subclass is particularly tanky, this is a good time to pick up a new shield for the endgame. Take on Viconia DeVir as part of the «Daughter of Darkness» quest to pick up Viconia’s Walking Fortress. This legendary shield grants advantage on saving throws against spells, imposes disadvantage on spell attack rolls against you, and provides access to two useful spells. Warding Bond once per long rest can be handy, but the true power of this shield lies in its exclusive spell: Reflective Shell. Once per short rest, this can be cast as a bonus action to send all incoming projectiles back to sender for the next two turns, rendering ranged attacks against the wielder both pointless and dangerous to the attacker. Nylruna, the trident mentioned in the Battle Master section, is also a fantastic weapon choice for an Eldritch Knight that helps them control the battlefield.

The Illusion school is sadly lacking when compared to many of the other Wizard Subclasses in the game, but does have a ton of utility for stealth. As such, taking Rogue levels can be very beneficial when playing an Illusionist. If going down this path, players could use equipment that lowers the target number for a critical hit (the Covert Cowl , for example) to complement their stealthy approach to exploration and combat.

The Nature Domain Cleric is an excellent crowd-control specialist and pairs surprisingly well with other classes that gain access to crowd-control spells. Since Plant Growth isn’t a concentration spell, it can stack with several powerful field-creating options. Anything altering the ground will override the Plant Growth, so players should pair it with Darkness, Hunger of Hadar, Fog Cloud, Stinking Cloud, Cloudkill, and Insect Plague for the best results. Combining Plant Growth with Hunger of Hadar, Https://Www.Baldursgate3Fans.Com for example, will trap enemies in a field where they can barely move and are constantly taking cold and acid damage, while also rendering them blind.

Finally, ninth level Death Domain Clerics gain Cloudkill and Contagion as Domain Spells. Taken all together, Death Domain Clerics excel in weakening enemies with status effects before finishing them off at close quarters. Once the enemy is dead, they can use Animate Dead to turn their fallen foes into more problems for their next opponent. Their ability to ignore resistance to Necrotic damage allows them to use their main damage type against enemies that would otherwise resist it, giving them an edge compared to other users of necrotic damage.

The Fighter in Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the simplest classes to understand when looking at it. The Fighter, as their name suggests, fights. More specifically, the Fighter class is an expert in using weapons and armor of all kinds and can thus adapt easily to different combat situations. The Fighter subclasses each offer more ways for the Fighter to excel on the battlefield, be it through specialized combat maneuvers, the addition of magic to their arsenal, or simply increasing their survivability and critical hit potential.

During Act 3, players should grab The Reviving Hands Gloves to replace the Hellrider’s Pride Gloves. They offer everything the Hellrider’s Pride Gloves offer while also applying Death Ward whenever a creature is revived by the wearer. This allows the Cleric to heal someone who has been reduced to zero Hit Points and prevent them from being downed by the next attack that would drop them to zero.

This multiclass choice has little impact on a character’s ability to use high-level spells. Because both classes are Prepared Spellcasters, and the ability to learn from scrolls only requires one level, a Cleric 11 Wizard 1 character will still be able to use Level 6 spells and have Level 6 spell slots unlocked.

Level seven Trickery Domain Clerics get the Domain Spells «Polymorph» and «Dimension Door.» This allows them to transfigure foes into harmless sheep and teleport while bringing an ally with them. Level eight grants «Divine Strike: Poison,» allowing them to spend an action to imbue their weapon with additional poison damage and strike a target.

There are a total of seven BG3 Domains (subclasses) Cleric players can try out, each of which focuses on different aspects of the class, and offers a selection of unique skills, proficiencies, and other features. As you level up in one of these BG3 Cleric subclasses, you will gain more abilities that are unique to your subclass choice.

The Gloves of Belligerent Skies make an excellent addition for players using lightning, thunder, or radiant damage, applying the reverberation condition and potentially knocking enemies prone. Players should also track down the legendary staff «Markoheshkir» during Act 3 to gain access to «Kereska’s Favour», which allows players to choose between six different damage types and gain access to additional spells that deal that damage type. The staff also causes all spell damage to apply a condition associated with that damage type (for example, choosing cold causes all spell damage to inflict frost).

The max level in Baldur’s Gate 3 Secrets Gate 3 is Level 12, and most of the time, each level you gain will grant something new for your Druid build. On character creation you gain the basics for the Druid class, then steadily gain Feat Choices, new spells and abilities, subclass features, and increase your Proficiency Bonus.

At level nine, the Circle of Stars Druid receives an additional Star Map and Cosmic Omen per long rest, giving them four of each. Finally, at level ten, the Circle of Stars Druid gains Twinkling Constellations, empowering each of their Starry Forms and allowing them to switch form as a free action once per turn. Archer’s Luminous Arrow now deals 2d8 Radiant Damage, Chalice now Heals 2d8 hit points, and Dragon can now fly 6m/20ft per turn.

However, Fighters can also gain proficiency in Athletics via the Outlander background, which replaces Intimidation with Survival. Its Inspiration mostly comes from achieving feats in the wilderness, like felling a large beast, or finding a mythical location.

In Act 1 , which typically brings players up to around Level 5 , you will be able to choose your Fighter Subclass (Battle Master), your Fighting Style (Great Weapon), a few Battle maneuvers, and a Feat.

Out-Of-Combat Mechanics How To Use The Traveller’s Chest How to Get Inspiration Guide to Resting What’s the Max Level Cap?
The Circle of Stars Druid pairs very nicely with the Light Domain Cleric, taking advantage of Warding Flare to avoid incoming attacks and Radiance of the Dawn to fire off a Radiant Damage AOE. Mixing in two levels of Fighter for Action Surge and access to a wider range of weapons and armor is also a great option, allowing you to cast multiple spells in a single turn.

The Barbarian class has the ability to enter a Rage with a bonus action, granting the ability to use an extra attack with a bonus action on subsequent turns – the effect ends if players don’t take or deal damage on a turn.

When players reach the Gauntlet of Shar in Act 2 , they can search for a Gilded Chest to acquire the Least Expected . This is a Shortbow with the Darkwell Precision effect, which essentially gives wielders +1d4 Damage to Ranged Weapon Attacks when obscured by shadows. Another interesting addition from this weapon is its Blinding Shot Action, which has a chance of Blinding a tar

There are a total of seven BG3 Circles (subclasses) Druid players can try out, each of which focuses on different aspects of the class, and offers a selection of unique skills, proficiencies, and other features. As you level up in one of these BG3 Druid subclasses, you will gain more abilities that are unique to your subclass choice.

Wildheart Barbarians can use their choice of Bestial Heart and Animal Aspects to specialize in a variety of different ways. A Bear Heart is well suited to tanking and can make good use of the Bonespike set, further enhancing their own defenses while gaining some offensive utility. Elk and Tiger Heart are more suited to dishing out damage and can make good use of the Wrath set.

For greatly improved melee range, you can utilize weapons like the Monster Slayer Glaive, Drakethroat Glaive , or Sorrow, all of which are accessible during Acts 1 and 2. You could also pick up the Halberd of Vigilance during Act 2. Alternatively, you could select a Greataxe for better potential damage, such as the Very Heavy Greataxe, Blooded Greataxe. Later in the game, during Act 3, you can swap these for Sethan or the Hellfire Greataxe.

Finally, at tenth level, Giant Barbarians gain access to Mighty Impel. This allows them to throw any creature that is medium-sized or smaller, regardless of their weight, as a bonus action while enraged. The throw range is fixed at 9m/30ft, which usually results in better range when throwing heavy creatures (unless your character has used an Elixir of Cloud Giant Strength to reach 27 Strength).

The Shapeshifter Hat, Armor of Moonbasking, and Mutiliated Carapace can be found during Act 3, all of which are designed to benefit a character while in Wildshape (or, in the case of the Mutilated Carapace, when disguised in any way.) The Armor of Moonbasking grants 22 temporary HP while in Wildshape, reduces damage taken by 1 while those temporary HP remain, grants a +2 bonus to AC, and grants advantage to saving throws against spells. All of these effects remain while in Wildshape. The Shapeshifter Hat increases the number of Wildshape charges by 1, while the Mutilated Carapace grants +1 to attack and damage rolls while shapeshifting or disguised.

For example, players could focus on lightning damage, picking up the Spellsparkler staff from Waukeen’s Rest (by rescuing Counsellor Florrick), the Jolty Vest from Brem in the Zhentarim Hideout, and the Watersparkers from the chest behind Minthara at the Goblin Camp. Add the Blast Pendant, worn by one of the Petrified Drow near the Selunite Outpost, and the Sparkswall Ring from the Mage Tower Basement in the Underdark. Buy the Lifebringer from Blurg in the Underdark Colony to complete the ensemble. After reaching Grymforge in Act 1, players should replace the Jolty Vest with the Protecty Sparkswall for better spell save DCs and pick up The Real Sparky Sparkswall shield, also found in Grymforge.

In the case that you don’t go with a Duergar and instead choose the Half Elf for the Mask of the Wild passive, choose the Charlatan background, which grants bonuses to Deception and Sleight of Hand, or the Guild Artisan background, which grants proficiency to Insight and Persuasion.

Spore Druids can make excellent use of any staff that has added damage, such as the Gold Wyrmling Staff (Act 1, Sold by Roah Moonglow at the Goblin Camp) or the Cacophony Staff (Act 1, Sold by Lady Esther at the Rosymorn Monastery Trail) since the bonus damage will stack with the necrotic damage from Symbiotic Entity. When paired with the Shillelagh spell these staves can dish out a surprising amount of damage while scaling entirely off the Druid’s Wisdom. This can be further boosted using the Polearm Master Feat.

There are a total of three BG3 subclasses Rogue players can try out, each of which focuses on different aspects of the class, and offers a selection of unique skills, proficiencies, and other features. As you level up in one of these BG3 Rogue subclasses, you will gain more abilities that are unique to your subclass choice.

This subclass also immediately grants the Druid the Guidance Cantrip and the Guiding Bolt Spell. Guiding Bolt is always prepared, and the Druid can expend a special resource called «Star Maps» to cast it without using a spell slot. They initially receive two Star Maps per long rest. At fifth level, the Circle of Stars Druid gets an additional Star Map per long rest. At sixth level, they gain three «Cosmic Omens» per long rest. These can be spent to add 1d6 to their own attack rolls or saving throws, subtract 1d6 from an enemy’s attack roll or saving throw, or add 1d6 to an ability check made by the Druid or an ally within 1.5m/5ft.

At eleventh level, you gain Mighty Swarm, which increases the bonus damage from the Swarm’s damage effect to 1d8 of the appropriate damage type. It also boosts your AC by 2 for a turn after using the teleport ability, and adds extra effects to the utility ability as shown in the table below:

The max level in Baldur’s Gate 3 is Level 12, and most of the time, each level you gain will grant something new for your Cleric build. In character creation, you gain the basics for the Cleric class, then steadily gain Feat Choices, new spells and abilities, subclass features, and increase your Proficiency Bonus.

One excellent Act 3 option would be the full Bhaalist set, especially the Bhaalist Armor and its ability to make nearby foes vulnerable to piercing, which pairs well with the piercing damage inflicted by the Legion of Bees.

When a Rogue has Expertise in a skill, their normal Proficiency bonus is doubled for that skill. So, as long as a Rogue is proficient in Stealth, that Proficiency bonus increases when they choose to gain Expertise in Stealth as well.

This section covers the best equipment for Life Domain Clerics in BG3 across all three Acts. Some pieces from early Acts may still be powerful in later ones, though, and will remain equipped through several Acts.

Outside of this, players could also use Eldritch Knight as their subclass when planning to multiclass heavily into other spellcasting classes, taking spells that are defensive in nature or otherwise require no attack roll or saving throw to be effective. This allows players to remain at low intelligence and still benefit from the Eldritch Knight spells they choose, freeing up those points to spend on stats that benefit their chosen spellcasting class.

Where equipment is concerned , Rangers should seek out the «Speedy Reply» scimitar in Act 1 (found on a dead caravan agent near Flind) or the «Thorn Blade» Scimitar sold by Dammon in Act 2. These two can be very effective during the first two acts, though the Thorn Blade’s poison damage is unfortunately resisted by quite a few foes. The Justiciar’s Scimitar (found in the Gauntlet of Shar during Act 2) is also an excellent pick that synergizes well with the Gloom Stalker’s stealth tactics. During Act 3, players can track down Belm, a returning weapon from baldur’s Gate 3 secrets Gate 2, which is an exceptional weapon that can turn your bonus action into an extra attack and is thus excellent for builds that aren’t dual-wielding. It has some unique synergy with certain weapons when held in the off-hand, which are discussed in the Act 3 section.

At fifth level, Giant Barbarians gain access to Boot of the Giants, allowing them to spend a bonus action to kick a target away. This is a contested Athletics check, just like the shove action, but you can use Boot of the Giants to push enemies that are up to twice the weight you’d be able to shove. You’ll also deal your unarmed damage to the target when using Boot of the Giants, which can be enhanced by Tavern Brawler, Martial Arts from Monk, and items like the Gloves of Crushing.

At level 8, the Wildheart gains «Land’s Stride: Difficult Terrain.» This prevents difficult terrain from reducing their movement speed. They gain a second Animal Aspect at level 10, choosing from the same list.

Goolocks also get the spell options «Dissonant Whispers» and «Tasha’s Hideous Laughter» at level 1. The former allows them to inflict psychic damage and frighten a foe, while the latter can leave a foe helplessly laughing on the ground for up to ten rounds. They gain the spells «Detect Thoughts» and «Phantasmal Force» at level three, allowing them to read minds without relying on the Mindflayer Tadpole and inflict psychic damage whose damage type changes to match the last attack that hit the target and occurs every turn for ten turns. At level five, they can get «Bestow Curse» and «Slow,» which offer them a huge range of debuff options for dealing with strong foes.

Players looking to strengthen their defenses further should instead grab the Bonespike set, consisting of the «Bonespike Helmet», «Bonespike Garb», «Bonespike Gloves», and «Bonespike Boots.» These generate temporary hit points, boost AC, allow attacks to ignore physical resistances, and add a chance for raging to cause psychic damage to nearby foes.

In Baldur’s Gate 3 races Guide Gate 3 , Wizard builds can be enhanced further with the use of specific consumables. Certain potions, like the Elixir of Battlemage’s Power, will grant combat-oriented bonuses for this best Wizard build, while others, like the Potion of Angelic Slumber, will make it easier to cast more spells more often by restoring Spell Slots.

The Wood Half-Elf is another very strong choice for the best Sorcerer BG3 race because of its improved movement. Though the Wood Half Elf doesn’t have any notable spells like the Drow race, this extra 1.5m movement distance is a bigger benefit than it might seem, and all Half-Elf subraces get immunity to Sleep as well as Advantage against being Charmed from Fey Ancestry.

This table displays recommended BG3 Sorcerer build choices for every level, including recommended spells you should add to your Spellbook while leveling. These spells synergize well with the BG3 Draconic Sorcerer build, and include a variety of single-target and AoE damage abilities as well as ways to boost your damage and options in combat with the right Metamagic choices.

At its core, Ring Mail Armour +2 offers 16 AC. This is leagues behind the other stronger Heavy Armour on the list, but it remains the highest-AC offering among lower-tier Heavy Armour that tanks and melee specialists may encounter in the mid-g

Wizards get to choose two skills from a list of six at character creation, including Arcana, History, Investigation, Insight, Medicine, and Religion. Choosing the Sage background removes History and Arcana from the pool of other skill proficiencies Wizards can learn at Level 1, leaving four choices remaining, while Guild Artisans just lose Insight.

Finally, level 10 Hexblade Warlocks gain «Armour of Hexes,» which lets them spend a reaction when attacked for a 50% chance of entirely negating that attack. This can be a lifesaver against powerful foes, though it’s inherently luck-driven.
