I am not one of those gamers. Knowing that I will be putting money into the pockets of a misogynist by buying a game makes me deeply uncomfortable. Will I be playing the game and writing about it honestly and critically on the basis of its merits? Sure, if I get a code. It’s my job to care about the triple-A landscape, and Chinese representation in the gaming industry will benefit from coverage of this game. But I don’t want to spend a cent on it, because I’m not interested in making people like this ric

One of the biggest remaining questions in terms of the game’s combat mechanics is whether the Monkey King will have access to weapons other than his staff. The staff itself seems incredibly versatile and is capable of changing its length and move set, depending on which stance the protagonist is in. While this already shows good variety, it would be highly unusual for a Soulslike not to offer any other choice of weapons , and for those who are drawn to the genre for its build variety, this could be a blow. Answers here would be much more appreciated as a res

Chinese games like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail are huge and Chinese games dominate the mobile game market, but these games don’t have nearly the cultural impact that companies like Nintendo have had with their intellectual properties. Chinese representation rules, and I was so excited to see something that resonates with so many Chinese people turned into what looks like a really cool game – China’s first major triple-A game, no l

Sun Wukong is an integral and long-enduring part of Chinese culture, one that has been reinterpreted time and time again across multiple mediums since the character was first created in a 16th-century Chinese novel called Journey to the West. The monkey god is iconic because he’s impossibly powerful and intelligent, has so many skills that he’s practically unbeatable, and uses those powers to sow chaos. He’s largely considered a trickster god, a la L

But then there’s the controversy. In 2020, comments from Game Science founder and CEO Feng Ji sparked a debate about the treatment of female gamers and had people proposing boycotts. On the day that the trailer was released, Feng made a post on Weibo. «I want to expand our workforce and hire more people. I want to be licked so much that I can’t have an erection anymore,» he wrote following Black Myth Wukong’s 2020 reveal. «I know you guys just happen to be so horny. I’m glad that the trailer has given you some satisfaction. My goal is to give blowjobs to people who appreciate my work, and to help people who share my vision achieve orgas

Fans of the soulslike genre have become used to freely switching between a large range of weaponry from swords to axes and daggers, and games like Nioh 2 have offered huge levels of customization to help make the player’s experience unique. It is currently unclear whether Black Myth: Wukong will offer such variety, as Sun Wukong’s staff appears to be the key element of the player’s offensive arsenal. If the staff is the only weapon available, then ensuring it is regularly enhanced and upgraded with new moves and abilities will be vital in order to keep combat feeling fresh through

As the first AAA release from developer Game Science, Black Myth: Wukong is an ambitious venture. Not only is the prospect of the studio’s first AAA title exciting, but its source material offers plenty to be intrigued about. Based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West , Black Myth: Wukong is a retelling of the beloved story. There is a lot of hype surrounding black myth wukong money guide|https://blackmythwukongfans.com/ Myth: Wukong , and the confirmed gameplay features that are set to appear in the game only make the anticipation that much grea

Black Myth: Wukong has been built on the impressive Unreal Engine 5 , and the result is a game that looks well and truly next-gen. One encounter in the heavy snow pits the Monkey King against the dangerous, fast-moving Macaque Chief boss. As the protagonist moves quickly around the terrain, the surrounding snow begins to accumulate in noticeable piles. Another boss fight against the Tiger Vanguard takes place partially in the water, which acts incredibly naturally as the fight thrashes around it. These are subtle but noticeable examples of Unreal Engine 5’s power and Gamescom 2023 could well show off more of this in full eff

Since it was unveiled in 2020, the upcoming Black Myth: Wukong has fans of action-RPGs excited. From its impressive visual presentation to fast-paced, free-flowing combat, the game is shaping up to be one of the finest in the soulslike genre. Set in Ancient China, the game is based on the 16th-Century novel Journey to the West . Developer Game Science appears to be working hard to ensure Black Myth: Wukong is able to live up to the hype currently surrounding it, and there are certain elements of the genre that the game should implement in order to maximize its chances of succ

At this point, it was clear I was probably never going to get to play Wukong at Gamescom, but that didn’t stop me from going back whenever I had a chance, hoping to get lucky and see the meagre hour-long queue I had once considered ridiculous. As the week went on, it became less about expecting to get in to play the game and more a morbid curiosity about how long the queues could possibly get, a question that was answered on Saturday when a sign outside the booth at 11 a.m. said: «capacity exceed

Anyone who has seen trailers and preview footage for Black Myth: Wukong is likely to pick up on one key characteristic: boss fights are a defining part of the experience. This comes as no surprise, as Black Myth: Wukong ‘s combat and boss fights are indeed similar to those found in the Soulslike genre. However, they still strive to be different in ways that enable the game to stand out in the vast sea of titles it is often compared

The success of a soulslike can be heavily affected by the quality of its boss fights. Over the past decade, FromSoftware titles such as Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne have managed to create some of the most incredible battles yet seen in video games. Black Myth: Wukong needs to put its own spin on this, and with a rich tapestry of Chinese mythology to pull from, it shouldn’t be short of inspiration. Sun Wukong appears to be equally capable of taking on beasts both big and small, so the prospect of some high-profile boss showdowns is exciting. However, with a long way to go until the game’s release, fans will be hoping for more trailers and news s

WIth that said, it would be remiss to discuss Black Myth Wukong online guide|https://blackmythwukongfans.Com/ Myth: Wukong without mentioning that its studio, Game Science, has been accused of fostering a sexist work environment . Yang Qi, the studio’s co-founder, once wrote a lengthy sexist post that touched on the biological differences between men and women as it pertains to games . To our knowledge, the studio has not responded to these accusations.

I walked away from Gamescom 2023 having played a ton of great upcoming games, from triple-A juggernauts like Mortal Kombat 1 and Sonic Superstars , to smaller but no less awesome releases like Thank Goodness You’re Here and AK-xolotl. As happy as I was with all I got to see, there was one game that managed to evade my grasp entirely — the Journey to the West-inspired Soulslike, Black Myth: Wuko

Sun Wukong is able to transform himself into different animals, and this ability should help set Black Myth: Wukong apart from other soulslikes . The reason why players will need this ability is unclear, so it isn’t known exactly how the mechanic will be put to use. Game Science must ensure it serves a clear purpose, becoming a crucial part of the gameplay to be used at key moments, rather than a superficial gimm

Fortunately, Black Myth: Wukong is slightly easier than classic Soulslike titles , so any initial foreboding shadow players might feel cast over them by the game’s bosses shouldn’t last too long. Players will have plenty of opportunities during Wukong ‘s boss encounters to get the upper hand. It is often those moments that can make or break a boss fight for players unless they manage to survive rather than thrive throughout the encounte. Players must remain keen-eyed and quick to catch these lightning-in-a-bottle moments, however, and that’s the exciting p

From talking to other FromSoft experts, I’ve gathered that Erdtree’s fights aren’t as easy to brute force as other fights. In our discussion video last week, reviewer James Troughton explained that their plan to stagger enemies with blunt weapons wasn’t as effective as they’d hoped, but when they switched to a more hybrid build with magic options, they had a lot more success. They also used the Mimic Tear Spirit Summon to distract bosses, and when they weren’t strong enough to beat a boss, they farmed Scadutree Fragments until they w

I walked away from Opening Night Live with Black Myth: Wukong having rocketed up my most anticipated games of 2024 list and the trailer’s incredible music doing a loop-de-loop around my brain. I was totally monkey-pilled and excited to see more of the game, whenever that fateful day might

Again, I don’t go here, but I kinda thought the difficulty was the whole point. You’re supposed to struggle, fail, die, suffer, then push yourself to get back up and try again. When you finally succeed you’re meant to think about all the times you could have given up but didn’t, making the success that much sweeter. This is basic Souls psychology that Elden Ring players, who I assume must be approaching this DLC after having beaten the game, surely understand. So what’s the dilemma here? Is it really too hard to be

Black Myth: Wukong , an upcoming Soulslike based on the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West , got a big trailer at The Game Awards. Not only did this new teaser show off titanic foes and dazzling fidelity, but it also demonstrated how Black Myth: Wukong ‘s mythological creatures will be unlike anything players have seen in the genre thus
