The Best Video Game Monologues

That said, Timefall seems solved by the end of the original, at least partially. It would be interesting to see it return, though, and new weather could be even better with storms that lower visibility, extreme heat that tires you out, and harsh winds that make it harder to move. Strong winds are even briefly featured in the original and this would be a great opportunity to expand t

From the nuclear apocalypse to a devastating zombie outbreak, there’s a diverse array of reasons as to why the world might have ended in gaming. For the most part, post-apocalyptic titles tend to be relatively creepy, with some of them bordering on the downright terrifying. It’s a genre that does a fantastic job at setting a morbid, ominous tone from the get-go, and in some cases, post- apocalyptic games can quite simply chill a player to their co

In the original Death Stranding, the joy of the world was the exploration. It was about the journey through this desolate world rather than the cargo you delivered at the destination. The whole game was built around that core loop and felt perfectly executed. Of course, you can always make a world feel even more al

Chernobylite was released in 2021, developed by The Farm 51, the creative minds behind the first-person shooter, World War 3 , and psychological thriller, Get Even . As a sci-fi survival game , Chernobylite was a title that stood out from the rest of The Farm 51’s creations, boasting a gorgeous, open world that was equal parts beautiful to admire and terrifying to behold. In Chernobylite , players must explore the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, exploring a dark, mysterious story littered with twi

With a star-studded cast of Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen, Death Stranding certainly needs a great team behind its facial animation to show the acting prowess of its A-list actors. Not only is the cast of Death Stranding great, but the game is from the mind of none other than Hideo Kojima, a renowned storyteller and game developer who surely needs these beautiful facial animations to further his goals and development of video games in the new ‘Strand’ ge

**Death Stranding 2 ** has possibly been leaked by Norman Reedus, prompting much speculation about what a sequel could look like, but not everything from the original Death Stranding should return for the sequel. Death Stranding was well-reviewed at release, with critics singling out praise for its many unique mechanics and strange premises, as befitting a Hideo Kojima game. However, the game had its flaws that the sequel should address. Death Stranding 2 needs to be a more concise package containing all the aspects players loved while removing those that weren’t as well recei

In a weird bit of worldbuilding, Kojima decided to include product placement in his Death Stranding universe. The world may be a post-apocalyptic wasteland, but at least Monster Energy drinks still exist. It’s nonsensical and doesn’t make sense even for those sold on the absurd premise that is the rest of the game. For a AAA game, the choice to include Monster Energy or have Sam mention Ride with Norman Reedus is an odd one and takes players out of the experience, especially when Kojima took the time to make an entire soundtrack of in-universe music that includes new tracks by known singers. Death Stranding ‘s Director’s Cut removed Monster from the game, so it may be that Kojima saw this as w

With Death Stranding 2 news Stranding 2 (which is only a working title, by the way) recently announced, it can be interesting to think what Kojima Productions could possibly add to a game that felt so well-realised on the first run. If anything, it might be best for it to jump in a totally different direction rather than trying to one-up its predeces

Metro: Last Light took everything that Metro 2033 had done so well and improved upon it tenfold. When it was released in 2013, it raised the bar for post-apocalyptic titles, boasting a chilling world, an intense, meaningful story, and superb, challenging combat. At the very heart of the Metro franchise is a sense of fear and anticipation, with many of the game’s scenes being set in pitch-black subway tunn

Hellboy and Sons of Anarchy star Ron Perlman isn’t directly linked to Kojima, but they do share an important friend in Guillermo Del Toro. Del Toro, who has collaborated with Kojima on P.T. and their unfinished Silent Hill game, has maintained a long working relationship with Perlman ever since casting him in Cronos , which was Del Toro’s debut feature. Perlman went on to star in Del Toro films such as Blade 2 , Pacific Rim , and the Hellboy films. Outside of his collaborations with Del Toro, Perlman is known for his work in genre films, and he would fit in perfectly in the high-concept sci-fi world of Death Strandi

An odd choice of the original was that it was set during an eternal day for no real reason. It was wonderful, still, but unusual. Having the day actually progress offers up so many opportunities. The darkness of night might make it difficult to move about, and enemy patrols could be different. Maybe other players could even build lights to guide your p
