Baldur’s Gate 3: Best Fighter Class Build

Upon creating a Fighter character in Baldur’s Gate 3 , players are asked which Fighting Style they would like to follow. There are six choices: Archery, Defence, Duelling, Great Weapon Fighting, Protection, and Two-Weapon Fighting.

For Rogues, this means sacrificing some Sneak Attack damage for the ability to perform another Sneak Attack in the same turn. Getting to Rogue 10 keeps Sneak Attack’s bonus damage at a nice 5d6, and getting two of them off in one turn means a total of 10d6 damage on top of regular weapon damage – plus, the ability to wear heavier armor is a nice bonus, too.

If you are dead set on including a character in your party, simply talk to Withers to respec them to one of the optimal Fighter companion classes listed above. This way, you won’t miss out on that character’s questline, and you won’t have to suffer from an improperly balanced party.

The Wildheart Subclass, likely a reimagining of the Totem Warrior from D&D 5e Tabletop, chooses a Bestial Heart at level three. Each Bestial Heart offers different bonus effects while the Barbarian is raging, along with access to a special action while raging, as the table below shows:

At fifth level, Giant Barbarians gain access to Boot of the Giants, allowing them to spend a bonus action to kick a target away. This is a contested Athletics check, just like the shove action, but you can use Boot of the Giants to push enemies that are up to twice the weight you’d be able to shove. You’ll also deal your unarmed damage to the target when using Boot of the Giants, which can be enhanced by Tavern Brawler, Martial Arts from Monk, and items like the Gloves of Crushing.

Either buy the Winter’s Clutches Gloves from Lady Esther on the Monastary Trail or obtain them from the quest «Avenging Glut’s Circle», and then pick up the Snowburst Ring from under a loose floorboard in the last-Light Inn during act 2. These will inflict «Encrusted with Frost» when the wearer deals cold damage and create a patch of ice whenever the wearer deals cold damage with a spell, respectively. Head for Balthazar’s Chambers in Moonrise and pick up the Coldbrim Hat too, causing all spell conditions inflicted to also apply two turns of Encrusted with Frost (but only to one target and only once per turn). This will allow the Cleric even more utility in Crowd Control by freezing enemies solid.

For the Battle Master build, which is a close-range melee build, these two abilities let the character persist through death and absolutely pile damage onto opponents with critical hits – just be sure to pick up abilities and gear that reduces the Critical Hit threshold.

The Wood Half-Elf is another very strong choice for the best Sorcerer BG3 race because of its improved movement. Though the Wood Half Elf doesn’t have any notable spells like the Drow race, this extra 1.5m movement distance is a bigger benefit than it might seem, and all Half-Elf subraces get immunity to Sleep as well as Advantage against being Charmed from Fey Ancestry.

This section covers the best equipment for Draconic Sorcerers in BG3 across all three Acts. Some pieces from early Acts may still be powerful in later ones, though, and will remain equipped through several Acts.

Naturally, the Giant Barbarian can make great use of the two equipment sets that were clearly designed with Barbarians in mind, the Wrath Set and the Bonespike Set. Picking up the Enraging Heart Garb at Moonrise, for example, is a great way to get extra Constitution and (If the bug with Ruintamer Heart gets fixed) get the Wrath buff by raging.

At level eight, War Clerics get «Divine Strike: Warmaster,» which allows them to add extra slashing damage to an attack. Level nine finishes off their Domain Spells with «Flame Strike» and «Hold Monster.» This provides them with a powerful targeted strike of radiant and fire damage and allows them to freeze a creature in place.

Wildheart Barbarians can use their choice of Bestial Heart and Animal Aspects to specialize in a variety of different ways. A Bear Heart is well suited to tanking and can make good use of the Bonespike set, further enhancing their own defenses while gaining some offensive utility. Elk and Tiger Heart are more suited to dishing out damage and can make good use of the Wrath set.

The Thief Rogue subclass offers one simple, but powerful, benefit over the Arcane Trickster: an extra bonus action. With this extra Bonus Action, the Thief Rogue is able to move further away from enemies, disengage from Opportunity Attacks, attempt a second Hide action if a first fails, and much more.

The max level in Baldur’s Gate 3 Spells guide Gate 3 is Level 12, and most of the time, each level you gain will grant something new for your Rogue build. On character creation you gain the basics for the Rogue class, then steadily gain Feat Choices, new spells and abilities, subclass features, and increase your Proficiency Bonus.

The Archfey Warlock makes their pact with a powerful Fey and draws on the capricious and whimsical powers of the Feywild. At level one, they gain the power «Fey Presence,» which allows them to frighten or charm all creatures in a 3m range as an action, assuming they fail a Wisdom Saving Throw.
