This Week in Gaming: May 5-11 Highlights

Winter’s still going on strong — for most of us, anyway — but the gaming release lull is slowly coming to an end! While most February releases are still geared towards the previous generation, there are a few next-gen games that should start the ball rolling for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Let’s take a look at what February has to of

The comment is an odd one as thus far, Fable Legends looks like it has a very direct approach to online play allowing you to set up games with friends, while both Journey and Dark Souls had more passive systems that limited interaction with other players. They were powerful multiplayer experiences though, and if Fable Legends can figure out a way to incorporate some of their elements into the game, it could be a great compliment the co-op heavy gamep

Aside from clarifying the traversal mechanics for Fable: The Journey , Molyneux also went into a little more detail on the combat. Though the series has always been known for combining melee, ranged, and magic attacks into one seamless experience, The Journey will be completely magic-based for a very simple rea

One of the franchises that came out largely unscathed by excessive multiplayer capabilities was the Fable series. While Fable III did boast co-op capabilities, Lionhead Studios has never done anything quite on the scale of what it is attempting with the newly announced Fable Legends . The franchise’s next-gen debut, an Xbox One exclusive, is an ambitious online jump for the series, allowing up to four players the opportunity to work together in order thwart another player taking on the role of the vill

Developed by Lionhead Studios —then known as Big Blue Box — the Peter Molyneux-headed title hyped itself as only a Peter Molyneux title could, with vast, speculative suggestions, promises and ideas. Players were told of how a single acorn, planted during the game’s early youth sections would sprout into a mighty oak by title’s end. That particular feature, and many more like it never made the cut, but their loss didn’t stop Fable from delivering an otherwise engaging and enjoyable experie

Talking further, he said that while they hadn’t quite figured it out, the team is trying to use the Xbox One’s cloud servers to matchmake players with friends and strangers. Although he didn’t explain how this would work, he did alluded to influences that the team are drawing f

It looks like there’s a lot more to look forward to this month, with more releases on the PS4 and Xbox One. Although it won’t be until March that the next-gen titles start pouring in, February should have many releases to keep gamers occupied. Ranters, what are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments section below! As for me, I’ll be counting the days until Thief releases on St

In Fable: The Journey, the primary source of travel — being able to wander across the expanse of Albion — will be the buggy. As the player and their loyal stead (who will ostensibly be replacing the dog in this entry) attempt to bring the blind fortune teller Theresa to the Spire, the player will guide their buggy via virtual re

In an interview with Digital Spy , Head of Lionhead Studios John Needham explained that this new online direction for the studio isn’t going to be exclusive to Fable Legends . Following the departure of Peter Molyneux , Needham — who has an MMO pedigree — took over the studio in his stead. With that pedigree, he said that all future games from the studio will boast «connected» aspects. Being candid about his roots, Neeham said, «We’re online game guys, that’s the studio. We love online games, we love interaction with real people, and we want to bring that magic to Fable» . He explained that interaction between characters and NPCs is what made the world of Albion a special place to play in. The goal of Fable Walkthrough|https://fablechronicle.Com/ Legends is to experiment with that dynamic and see what would happen if you substituted those interactions and brought in real players to the

Now, for the first time in just under 10 years, fans of the original game are being given the chance to returns the wilds of Albion, (the Xbox to Xbox 360 emulation is plagued with performance issues) via the Fable Anniversary edition.
