Why I’m Hopeful For Overwatch 2, Despite Everything

Most notably, the DPS Hero’s mobility set is unknown. However, the BlizzConline video offers some potential hints via some concept art. It shows Sojourn sliding forward with booster jets coming from her back, knees, and calves. Perhaps this is her mysterious missing abil

The tank-like Artillery unit is already an intimidating adversary based on how Blizzard describes it in the BlizzConline video. It’s a four-legged monster of an Omnic that can rain a barrage of small missiles and fire a charged-up duo of large rockets. There’s little need to make this a more intimidating advers

Overwatch 2 might be the first sequel in history that players of the original begged the developers not to make. Through a small handful of gameplay changes and minor visual updates, it just barely manages to justify its own existence. It feels like it’s Blizzard’s attempt to restructure the monetization into a more profitable, industry-standard model, which people have rightly pointed out benefits the publisher, but doesn’t actually provide any value to the players. At first blush, Overwatch 2 comes across like a dark tulpa of the original — a product designed to increase profits and engagement without offering anything that meaningfully increases enjoyment. Within the broader context, Overwatch 2 DPS Guide 2 follows this year’s Diablo: Immortal as just another anti-consumer title from a mega corp that used to actually care about its fans and reputation. There’s never been a particularly good answer to the question «Why does Overwatch 2 exist?», and I don’t anticipate there ever will

At this year’s BlizzCon event — entitled BlizzConline for its all-digital format — Blizzard released a forty-minute video dedicated to Overwatch 2 . It showcased the new Talents system, two new maps, and a few things that might get overlooked on one viewing. There was no release date announced, but there’s enough for Overwatch fans to chew on until Blizzard nails down an official launch d

Losing a tank opened the door for major, much needed reworks to a lot of heroes. Tanks like Reinhardt and Orisa now have more utility and survivability since they have to tank for the entire team, while shield breakers like Bastion get to take a step back and fill a different role. I’m not suggesting that every character is perfectly balanced now, but I see so many improvements already. It’s hard not to be excited about the new Overwatch meta. A shakeup like this was never going to happen without a title cha

The most apparent is the team size reduction. Overwatch 2 features 5v5 battles instead of 6v6, meaning both teams have one less tank in the fight. Opinions will vary, but I think it’s obvious that this is a huge improvement. Half the number of tanks means half the number of shields, which means fights are more active and exciting. Instead of both teams poking at each other from behind cover until everyone fires off their ults, every match is a constant back and forth. Getting picks has a much greater impact, so it’s easier to coordinate pushes with your team, even if you’re only communicating non-verbally. It’s a simpler, easier to follow spectator experience, which will help the Overwatch League reach a wider audience. Resizing the teams has an effect on every aspect of the game, and it’s been overwhelmingly posit

The Detonators appeared in the Uprising seasonal event. However, there are some notable differences between the image and the Uprising models, and Uprising’s titular PvE mode reenacted an event predating both Overwatch and Overwatch 2. So it’s unclear what this new Omnic’s role will be, if not flying towards enemies and blowing up like a Detonator. Perhaps it’s a healer? Maybe another grenade-tossing drone? Who kn

Glass Month Text | March | Blender 3DFor the first couple of years, Overwatch was unstoppable. Each new hero was a major event, hyped up with months of speculation as players tried to guess who was coming our way next by digging into the game’s files or drawing from small clues left behind by Jeff Kaplan and friends. Sombra, Doomfist, Orisa, Ashe, Ana, Moira, and Brigitte were all big deals, igniting imagination across the fandom with how their relationships intertwined with the existing roster and how their position in the narrative would come to play an important role.

Blizzard’s Overwatch 2 video showcase also contains some details that are easy to miss on top of these new announcements. Like everything else shown in the video, these details are subject to change, but some give players a few ideas for what to expect in the seq

There’s also the porn. Oh my goodness there was so much porn. Overwatch porn hit harder than Tory austerity in a low-income council estate on the outskirts of Birmingham. I suppose it’s a testament to how much we loved these characters that fans were able to create detailed animated films of their main being drilled into oblivion. I respect that dedication, yet it also highlights how blatantly sexualised so much of the cast was, with many of their designs intentionally drawing in the male gaze with conventional body types and poses drawing our eyes to very specific parts of the body. Most of the girls were clearly designed by dudes. \
